Swaminarayan Biography
God Swaminarayan was brought into the world on 3 April 17 in Uttar Pradesh, India. His real name was Ghanshyam Pandey and his father's name was Shri Hari Prasad Rai, mother's name was Bhakti Devi. His parents had named him Ghanshyam. Seeing the sign of Braj Udharva Rekha and lotus from the hands and feet and feet of the child, the astrologers said that this child will give the right direction of life to millions of people. In 5 years, the child was given alphabet knowledge and in 8 years the sacred thread ceremony took place.
He studied many scriptures at this young age when he was only 11 years old. Mother and father died in childhood and after some time due to some dispute with his brother, he left the house and for the next 7 years he circumambulated the whole country.
Now people started calling her Neelkanthvarni. During this time he taught Ashtanga Yoga from Gopal Yogi and went to Himalayas in the north, Kanchi Srirangapuram in the south to Rameswaram. After this Pandharpur he came to Gujarat via Nasik. One day this Neelkanth reached the village 'Loj' near Mangrol. He was introduced to Swami Muktananda who was a disciple of Swami Ramananda. Neelkanthvarni Swaminarayan was eager to see Ramananda. On the other hand Ramanand ji also often used to tell the devotees that only then the real naat will come, I am playing duggugi before his arrival, after the meeting Ramanand ji asked him to stay with Swami Muktananda. Neelkanth Varni made his order head-on. Swami Muktananda used to tell stories in those days. Both men and women used to come in it. Neelkanth Varni noticed that the attention of many listeners and sadhus is not towards the story but towards the women. He arranged separate stories for men and women and also prepared women storytellers with effort.
He was of the opinion that a sannyasi should strictly follow all the rules made for him. After some time Swami Ramanand gave education to Neelkanth Varni in Peepal Ana village and named him Sahajanand.
A year later in Jaipur, he gave Sahajanand the title of Acharya of his sect. After some time Swami Ramanand ji died, now Swami Sahajanand traveled from village to village and spread the story. By making the goal of service to the poor, he connected all the classes with him, due to which his fame spread all the more.
He used to ask his disciples to take 5 fasts, from them there was talk of giving up meat, alcohol, theft, adultery and following all religions. God Swaminarayan made Ajay rules and everyone followed them strictly.
He stopped such acts of violence, sacrificial system, sati practice, female killing, ghosts in the yagya. His field of work was mainly Gujarat. He used to help everyone without discrimination when natural calamity came. Seeing this service, people started considering him as an incarnation of God.
God Swaminarayan ji got many temples built and during their construction he himself used to do Shramdaan with everyone. God Swaminarayan built a grand temple in Ahmedabad, Mooli, Bhuj, Jetalpur, Dholka, Vadtal, Bada, Dholera and Junagadh during his tenure, which is a wonderful example of temple architecture.
Thus awakening devotion to religion, God Swaminarayan left his body on 1 June 1831, today his followers are spread all over the world, they work by making temples the center of service science.
