God Shiva's third son's name is God Ayappa and he is worshiped with full devotion in South India. At the same time, the names of the three daughters of Shiva are – Ashok Sundari, Jyoti or Mother Volcano and Goddess Vasuki or Manasa. Although the three sisters are not very popular like their brothers but they are worshiped in many parts of the country. Of these, the third daughter of Shiva ie Vasuki is considered to be the step-daughter of Goddess Parvati. It is believed that Parvati did not give birth to Vasuki like Kartikeya.
Elder Daughter Ashok Sundari
Shiva's elder daughter Ashok Sundari was given birth by Goddess Parvati to overcome her loneliness. She wanted to have a daughter. It is believed that Ashok Sundari was very beautiful like Goddess Parvati. So Sundari came in his name. At the same time, he was given the name Ashok because he had come to remove the grief of Parvati's loneliness. Ashok Sundari is specially worshiped in Gujarat.
It is also said for Ashok Sundari that when God Shiva had beheaded the child Ganesha, she hid in a sack of salt in fear. Because of this, they are also associated with the importance of salt.
Second Daughter Jyoti
The name of Shiva's second daughter is Jyoti and two stories are told related to her birth. According to the first, Jyoti was born from the effulgence of Shiva and is the form of his aura. According to another belief, Jyoti was born from the radiance emanating from Parvati's forehead. Jwalamukhi is also another name of Goddess Jyoti and she is worshiped in many temples in Tamil Nadu.
Shiva's Third Daughter Mansa
According to the folklore of Bengal, the treatment of snakebite is done by Mansa Devi. It is said that he was born when Shiva's semen touched an effigy made by Kadru, who is said to be the mother of snakes. That's why she is called the daughter of Shiva but not of Parvati. That is, Manasa was not born from the womb of Parvati like Kartikeya.
It is said that Manasa also has a name Vasuki and due to being neglected by her father, stepmother and husband, her nature is considered very angry. Usually he is worshiped without any idol or picture. In its place, a tree branch, earthen pot or earthen snake is worshiped by making it. They are worshiped to protect them from chicken pox or snake bite. He is duly worshiped in many temples of Bengal.
Although not many people know about the daughters of Shiva, but they are mentioned in many places in the Puranas.
