Whether human or deity, all have to enjoy their own karma. Even if you do the work secretly or in front of everyone, no one escapes from the eyes of God. Everyone should act only after deciding right and wrong. You have to suffer the consequences of the misdeeds committed by you. Even if it has to be done by a deity or a common person has to do it simultaneously in the same birth or for many lives.

Ashta Vasu along with his wife went on a tour of the earth. After visiting all the dhams, Ashta Vasu along with his wife reached the ashram of Vasistha Rishi. Where he saw everything in the ashram, including Yagyashala, Pathshala etc. There was also a cowshed in which Nandini was a cow which was liked by Ashta Vasu's wife. And she insisted on taking him to heaven with her. Ashta Vasu explained a lot to them that stealing like this is a sin. But the wife did not listen and started saying - Oh Nath! We are gods, how can we incur any sin? We are all blessed with immortality, so what should we fear? Ashta Vasu had to be defeated in front of his wife's stubbornness and both of them stole the Nandini cow and took it to heaven.
On the second day when sage Vashishtha came to Gaushala, he did not see Nandini cow. He looked around, but after not knowing anything, he saw the whole sequence of events with a divine vision, due to which he got angry. As a result of which he cursed the eight Vasus that they were proud to be gods. Due to which they considered their rights even on unrighteousness. Therefore, all of them will have to take birth on the earth and suffer the sufferings here. Eight Vasus were frightened by this and they prayed to the Lord, as a result of which the other seven Vasus got liberation.
After some time, King Shantanu and Mother Ganga had eight sons, out of which seven died, only the eighth survived, whose Devavrata was later known as Bhishma Pitamah. These were the eight Vasus who had to suffer for many years in the form of mental and physical torture for their mistake.
In this way, be it a deity or an ordinary man, he has to suffer for his actions. No creature should ever be proud, no matter what, the rules have to be followed by everyone.
This is a great truth that man should accept. And always control your speech and actions. A man should never be proud of his position, because pride leads to all harm and harm never sees any position. Just as in the story, the goddess was proud of her divinity, which her husband Ashta Vasu had to suffer because he supported his wife in her wrong stubbornness.
